🔍 What are “Strands Hints”?

• Strands is a daily word puzzle by The New York Times.

• It gives you a theme plus you must find theme words hidden in a grid.

• The “hints” often are:

  1. The first two letters (or a partial beginning) of each theme word.

  2. A clue for the spangram (the special word that spans the board).

  3. Whether the spangram is mostly horizontal or vertical.

• You can earn hints by finding any non-theme word in the grid (often of length ≥ 4). Using a hint reveals one of the theme words.
